Description
Ultramarine Blue is a rich, deep blue coloured pigment. It is used extensively in makeup applications both on its own or as the main pigment in blue-coloured micas.
Prior to the creation of a synthetic version in 1826, Blue Ultramarine was made from Lapis lazuli and was the most expensive colour available. Synthetic Blue Ultramarine is extremely pure, stable and has a consistent colour. However, as it is made with sulphur, it can release an eggy, sulfurous odour when used - especially if exposed to a high pH.
