Description

Mānuka Leaf is sustainably harvested from the Mānuka bush the leaf, renowned for its healing properties in traditional Māori (Rongoā) herbal medicine.

Its flowers are well-known for producing manuka honey.   European settlers used its leaves as a tea-like substitute, hence the common name 'Tea tree', however this name is also bestowed upon it's relative the Australian native Melaleuca alternifolia so the use of the Māori name is preferential.

The Mānuka leaf is rich in tannins and essential oil it is considered to be astringent and anti-spasmodic, these properties coupled with the reported anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effects of the essential oil may also make it useful for skin issues and digestive upsets.
