Tinted lip balms are fun and easy to make, and you get to pick the colour combinations for you.

Ingredients

Makes 5 x Lip Balm Tubes

25gm

Lip Balm Base

2gm

Organic Lip Balm Flavour

1/4-1/2 tsp 

Mica of choice

1/32-1/16 tsp
Smigen/Pinch

Iron Oxide of choice

  • Suggested #1: 1/4 tsp Sweetheart Rose + 1/32 tsp Black Iron Oxide
  • Suggested #2: 1/4 tsp Cantaloupe + 1/32 tsp Brown Iron Oxide

Note: Mica’s will give you the colour - Oxides will bring a boldness, you will
need a
mix of both. Add a little more of each for a stronger tint.

Equipment

2 x Beakers
Mini Scoops
Glass Stirring Rod
Scales
Pot For Double Boiler
5 x Lip Balm Tubes

Method

  1. Weigh out 25 grams of lip balm base and pop in a beaker.
  2. Pop into a double boiler until melted. You will need a tea towel to take out of double boiler as it can get hot.
  3. Measure out the lip balm flavour in the small beaker and add the colour combination to this and stir well.
  4. Test - add a drop or two to a plate, it will cool fast, and test, adjust colours now, before pouring.
  5. Add the melted lip balm base to the flavour and colours, stir well.
  6. Pour into the lip balm tubes.
  7. Leave to set and cool, and then cap. Ready to use.
